Top 5 Indoor Water Parks

posted in: Fun  |  posted by: Jennifer Gregory on May 8, 2008  |  1 Comment

Swimming is not an activity that should be limited to the summer months, and neither is vacation. Splash and slide your way through some of the hottest indoor water parks in the U.S. They are specifically designed with the entire family in mind. The water and room temperatures are controlled enough to make one forget about the harsh outside chills and activity rooms provide entertainment for both non-swimmers and parents alike.

H2Oasis

H2Oasis is located in Anchorage, Alaska. The 80+ degree water park serves as a welcome change to the usually sub-zero temperatures experienced throughout the winter months in Alaska. The most exciting ride at H2Oasis is the Master Blaster. It?s described as the water ride equivalent of a roller coaster, sending swimmers down slides in tubes gliding at speeds of almost 20 miles per hour. The water park is also home to a wave pool, a body slide, and a lazy river. Prices range from $16 – $22 for children and adults alike. Parents and those too young to enjoy the attractions in the water park may find themselves entertained by video games or miniature golf at the Castle on O?Malley, located just next door.

Avalanche Bay

Avalanche Bay is based out of Boyne Falls, Michigan is the largest indoor water park in the state. The popular park is relatively new, having only opened in May of 2006. The park includes many of the same style of ride you might find at H2Oasis or other water parks, but also features a surfing simulator and hot tubs. Non-water activities include climbing walls and video arcades. The water park is located near the Mountain Grand Lodge and Boyne Mountain Ski Resort, making it accessible as part of a ski vacation or spa retreat vacation ? whichever you prefer!

Kalahari Waterpark Resort

Kalahari Waterpark

The Kalahari Waterpark Resort is located in Sandusky, Ohio. Another new park opened in 2006, this incredible resort and water park boasts an African theme. The rides are designed for children of all sizes and levels of agility. The wave pool is home to some of the best indoor 5-foot waves, while the youngest water lovers will enjoy the Wild Kingdom, which includes small water slides, water guns, and climbing nets. The water park is only part of the Kalahari Waterpark Resort and those planning to stay the night can choose from accommodations ranging from the informal cabana to the more formal hotel room within the main resort. Whichever you choose, but you and the kids are sure to have a great time.

World Waterpark

World Waterpark

World Waterpark finds it?s home in Edmonton, Alberta. Sitting on just about 5-acres of land, this Canadian water park is amongst the largest in the world! The water park has been in existence for over two decades, but is constantly updating and adding new attractions. Have you ever gone bungee jumping in a water park? The water park is located with the West Edmonton Mall, which is a huge attraction on it?s own. If you aren?t too tired after swimming, you might enjoy browsing through a few of the mall?s 800 shops, the amusement park, or the aquarium!

Caribbean Cove

Caribbean Cove is located in Indianapolis, bringing the Caribbean closer to home than ever before. The tube slide?s 40-foot drop may be exciting, but nothing compares to the body slides Carribean Cove has to offer. At 267 and 292 feet long, the drops are sure to please the bravest slide fans. The drawback? You can?t visit Caribbean Cove unless you are a guest at the Holiday Inn Hotel, which is directly connected to the park.
