People accustomed to travelling in public transports like buses, trains or airplanes, where they are stuck in a confined space with all sorts of people would, some day somewhere, have come across the situation where the only two options open to them are either to breathe and die, or to hold their breath and die?. Yes, we are talking about, apparently, a very common human problem; flatulence. Farting Sign

Actually, farting is a natural phenomenon that every human being suffers from. Some of us are just luckier than others and can curb the desire to let go, while others just can?t keep it in. Scientific studies point out numerous reasons as to why people feel the need to fart, especially when in public places. A factor that compounds the problem during air travel is the air pressure and if you are unlucky enough to be seated near or around a compulsive farter, you would wish they let the oxygen mask down every 10 minutes.

Excessive farting can bring down an airplane

Fartnig signsPeople planning air travel should pay special heed to this warning. An American Airlines plane carrying 99 passengers, on its way to Dallas from Washington, had to make an emergency landing courtesy a passenger suffering from a ?medical condition?. Apparently, a lady trying to muffle the lethal smell of her flatulence, lit numerous matches in the plane. Her plan worked in part, as the passengers got terrified after smelling struck matches and the plane had to make emergency landing only to find out about the lady?s smelly secret. The lady was banned from flying in the American again, but the authorities decided not to press charges as the embarrassment was deemed punishment enough.
