Honeymoons or anniversaries are two occasions when couples most want to book a vacation to one of the world’s most romantic beaches. Like many things in life, people have their own views into what they consider “most romantic.” The Wedding Channel recently polled couples and newlyweds to find out what beaches and areas they would recommend.
Green Sand Beach, Hawaii
Green Sand Beach in the Kau’ district of Hawaii gains its greenish tinged sand from the crystals that came from Mauna Loa. The active volcano is rich in olivine crystals that mix with the sand to create the green appearance. The Green Sand Beach is not easily reached; you must have a four-wheel drive vehicle or be willing to hike for a few miles in order to climb the slopes. For this reason, it is usually private and perfect for romancing. It is illegal to take the sand from this beach home, so avoid temptation and remember that this rare beach is only around because people have learned to respect the gift nature has provided. You might even see some whales from the coastline.
Matira Beach, Bora Bora
Tropical breezes and bright sunny days are the main draw with Tahiti and its surrounding islands. Matira Beach in Bora Bora can get busy when school is out, but situated in a quiet point, the beach’s white sand and sparkling aqua waters create a truly romantic setting for quiet nights and sun-drenched days. The tropical atmosphere makes it a popular destination and the deeper lagoon provides ample opportunities for trysts in the water.
Pink Sands Beach, Bahamas
Pink Sands Beach in the Bahamas is located on Harbour Island. This twenty-acre resort is bordered by a three-mile stretch of pink sand beach that gains its appearance from tiny fragments of broken coral. The resort rooms are large and spacious and honeymooners and those celebrating their anniversary are treated to cottages that have private decks overlooking the ocean and even have a chilled bottle of champagne waiting upon your arrival.
Promenade des Anglais, France
For something a little more unusual, head to Nice, France along the Mediterranean coastline to the Promenade des Anglais. Promenade des Anglais is more upscale with boutiques and cafes lining the beachfront. The long sandy beach is perfect for romantic walks, and then the exquisite cafes are perfect for a cozy meal and bottle of wine before retiring to your hotel room.
South Beach, Miami
Oddly enough, many newlyweds find Miami’s South Beach to be an utterly romantic destination. The beaches are crowded generally, but there is so much action that it is hard not to get caught up in the area’s allure. Many fine restaurants, lively clubs, and even some of Hollywood’s elite make this a favorite with young couples.
