Regarding your diving remark for #2, I remember the first time I did a deep dive. We only went to 90 feet or so, but we were alongside a wall and couldn't see bottom. The water wasn't as clear as in that grotto, but it was at least another 40 feet or so. Just a little disconcerting the first time you do it. I can't see panicking due to the depth though.
