Perhaps the first five private islands we shared were a little bit out of your budget range. While islands ranging in price from $18 million to $40 million are certainly nothing to sneeze at, they are considerably less expensive than the ones ranging from $65 million to $300 million! Check out some of these hot private islands. They’re on sale now, so make sure to jump on these deals if you have the spare cash lying around!
Isla de sa Ferradura
Located off the coast of Ibiza, Spain, the Isla de sa Ferradura is also known as the Isla del Bosc. The small, 14 acre island itself has been designed to resemble a private resort paradise. The island is sunny almost 300 days out of the year and is complete with a luxurious mansion, gigantic kitchen, and complete indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The island includes a bay cruiser, wave runners, windsurfers, a heated fresh-water pool, and a laguna salt water pool. You are encouraged to relax in the sauna, steam room, or Jacuzzi or to visit the beauty salon or gym.
The island can be purchased for around $39.7 million. If you aren’t sure if this cozy island is for you, feel free to rent it and bring your family for a trial run.
Thatch Cay
Thatch Cay lies only a half a mile away from the shores of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The island has been occupied since the mid-1700’s and was named after Tyre Palm trees, other wise known as “thatch” that grow there. The island consists of 230 acres, including incredible cliffs on one side and beautiful green landscape on the other. Because it is only a half mile from St. Thomas, the island offers an incredible amount of privacy without the inconvenience of having to travel a great distance to land for supplies.
Thatch Cay has been valued around $24 million. The proximity to the popular St. Thomas makes this the perfect location for a profitable resort complex.
Exuma Cay
Exuma Cay, located in the Bahamas, is an amazing 681-acre piece of property. The island is home to miles of white sandy beach, hidden bays, and amazing fresh-water pools. The island includes a lavish 2-story home with six bedrooms and a man-made pool. Feel free to bring your own caretaker and house staff. You won’t have to share the house, as their private residences are located out of sight on the other side of the island. Transportation to the island shouldn’t be much of a problem. Just hop in your private jet and land on the half-mile runway.
The island of Exuma Cay has been valued at approximately $35 million.
Allan Island
Perhaps you’d prefer to purchase an island a little closer to home. The amazing Allan Island is located right off the coast of Washington State in the United States. The island is 292-acres and has an incredible amount of potential. One who wishes to keep the island to himself will enjoy the already built home – a modest two bedroom, one bathroom home with a guest house. The entrepreneurs in our midst will appreciate the opportunity to sell land on the island, as it has already been split into almost four dozen separate tax lots.
Allan Island was once listed at around $25 million – an excellent price considering the potential value of the island as a business venture.
Magic Island
The Magic Island, situated in French Polynesia, is certainly special. The magic lies in the fact that this retreat is comprised of not one, but two small islands. The islands themselves lie in the midst of the Bora Bora lagoon. The first is a tiny 2.4 acres and the second can be reached by walking through water that won’t even go up to your knees! The island includes a main house and a smaller guest house.
Purchase the set of islands for a mere $18 million. If owning an island isn’t your cup of tea, the owner is willing to lease the island 30 years at a time. Something worth considering!
Most of the islands featured in this two-article series are listed with Coldwell Banker Morrison’s Private Islands. The firm is considered one of the largest firms in the world dealing in the sale of private islands. Other private island firms include Vladi Private Islands, Gudgell Properties, and H. G. Christie. A few of the islands are being sold privately.
Regardless of which you choose, or dream of choosing, each one guarantees a luxurious and private getaway experience. Enjoy your island hunt!
