Dining Out on Thanksgiving

Dining out on Thanksgiving Day was once considered abnormal. Today, almost 50% of American families will opt to either dine out in a restaurant or, at the very least, have their meals prepared outside the home for pickup or delivery.

There are dozens of restaurants in major cities around the United States, all of which are preparing to host a myriad of families this Thanksgiving. Dinner will include turkey, stuffing, and all of the traditional trimmings. The only thing missing will be you and your family if you don’t make your dinner reservation in time.

10. Hudson’s on the Bend – Austin, Texas

Hudson’s on the Bend is an upscale Austin establishment that promises a Thanksgiving Day menu that won’t disappoint. Known for its fresh wild game and stunning wine collection, you’ll be presented with a feast fit for a king. Make sure you try a slice of Grand Marnier cheesecake if you have room for dessert.

9. Meritage – Boston, Massachusetts

The Meritage restaurant is located within the Boston Harbor Hotel right on the Boston harbor. With Chef Daniel Bruce at the helm, you’ll be presented with a decadent Thanksgiving feast paired with the best wines in the region. Don’t eat too much before you arrive – you’ll want to savor as much of your Thanksgiving dinner here as humanly possible.

8. City Tavern – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The City Tavern is located right in the center of Old City Philadelphia where guests are often treated to traditional colonial fare. The original tavern was destroyed in the mid 1800’s but was later restored and is an excellent place for couples or families that want to enjoy Thanksgiving in one of America’s historic epicenters.

7. Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood – West Hollywood, California

Gordon Ramsay has spent several years filming his television show “Hell’s Kitchen” in Los Angeles. The city grew on him and he finally decided to open his own restaurant, leaving a permanent mark on the city he spent so much time in. The Thanksgiving menu promises to be as decadent and demanding as anything you’ll find in any of his kitchens around the world – only he won’t be screaming at the disillusioned chefs in the background!

6. Bouchon – Las Vegas, Nevada

Just because you’ve booked a hotel in Las Vegas for the holiday doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a stunning Thanksgiving dinner. The Bouchon is located within The Venetian, where Chef Thomas Keller and his staff will prepare a delicious menu of traditional Thanksgiving dishes with a bit of French flair. Bouchon also features an extensive wine list and a marvelous dessert menu.

5. Villa de Flora – Kissimmee, Florida

The stunning Villa de Flora is the signature restaurant within the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, just outside of Orlando, Florida. The menu is typically Mediterranean but on Thanksgiving will transform in order to serve a stunning family dinner to a full house. Your Italian, Greek, and French-inspired sides and desserts will leave you wondering if it’s possible to take a chef home with you.

4. Beachhouse – Honolulu, Hawaii

Located within the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort, in Honolulu, Hawaii is the fabulous Beachhouse restaurant. The traditional menu at this romantic destination typically features steak and seafood but on Thanksgiving Day you’ll find plenty of turkey, stuffing, and sides on the menu as well. This fine dining establishment is perfect for couples traveling over the holiday.

3. Bin 36 – Chicago, Illinois

Chicago’s Bin 36 is a bubbling wine bar serving cheese, coffee, and fine wines from around the world. The menu is informal but not too casual, serving traditional café fare during the regular lunchtime rush. Thanksgiving, on the other hand, is a different story. Try selections from the cheese bar as an appetizer as you wait for your decadent Thanksgiving feast to arrive at your elegantly decorated table.

2. Michel Richard Citronelle – Washington, DC

On any given day, guests seated at the front of the restaurant can see directly into the kitchen, watching the incredible chef and his team at work. On Thanksgiving you’ll be treated to a brilliant blend of traditional Thanksgiving dishes, all with a little bit of Chef Richard’s unique twist!

Kick back, relax, and let someone else do the cooking and – more important – the cleanup this Thanksgiving. It doesn’t really matter where you eat as long as you’re with the ones you love!
