A look at Canada – that harmless, inoffensive giant among world nations – meanders on with three more towns that beckon tourists with a plethora of attractions. While one can jump around in Europe and tour a country in a matter of days, Canada, much like the United States and Australia, is impossible to digest in one fell swoop. Too immense and spread out, it would take over a week just to drive from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Vancouver, British Columbia, if one were crazy enough to even attempt the epic trip. As a result, those who plan to visit Canada have to choose a region with great care. With that in mind, here is the rest of our handy city guide.
Ottawa, Ontario
The capital of Canada is a charismatic little city, which unlike many world capitals, has much more to offer than a staid central seat of government. The Parliament, ironically enough, is a wonderful attraction, not just in terms of architecture and historical import, but as the national symbol of this proud democracy. The best time to visit is July 1, when hundreds of thousands of proud patriots celebrate Canada Day with fireworks and a slew of top musical acts.

With borders that stretch from the Arctic to the United States, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, Canada merits a reputation as The Great White North. A massive country, with vast swaths of land virtually unexplored and unpopulated, Canada is rich in natural resources and desolate wilderness. Present day Canada however, is one of the most modern, progressive nations in the world and very divergent from the bygone era of fur trappers and Catholic missionary settlements.
Indeed, with the majority of the population in neat urban pockets, there is a lot more to Canada than beavers, moose, polar bears, igloos, Celine Dion and the RCMP. All fine symbols, but endure as they may as sources of pride, Canada has many other faces to display to the world.

If you want big city appeal in North America without the oppressive hustle bustle, Boston is the place to be. The city has all the culture and attractions you can handle but lacks that element of claustrophobia so many other urban areas curse visitors with. The landscape of Boston is spread out, manageable and the city has a lot of history and charm.
With the recent phenomenal success of Boston sports teams - witness the Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots - the over 4 million people who live in the metro area are even more hospitable than ever. Just be sure not to wear a New York Yankees cap or Los Angeles Lakers jersey if you walk around at night.
Here are the top 10 attractions to visit while in Beantown.
Faneuil Hall Marketplace
A location near the waterfront and Government Center city square makes Faneuil Hall a wonderful vantage point for new visitors to Boston. The historic hall has been a cradle of political demonstration and a marketplace since the 18th century. As such, it offers splendid architecture from the era and houses shops and food stalls in the form of three distinct markets: Quincy, North and South.

School’s out for the summer! Your kids are excited, but you’re not. I’m not surprised. After all, how many trips to the mall, the park, or the zoo can you possibly take? Nothing changes! The beach is an excellent choice, but won’t work on rainy days or while last week’s sunburn is healing. So what will you do to keep the kids (or you) from climbing up the walls?
Think museums, but think unique. You don’t have to visit the same old discovery or science museum you visit every year. In the United States, businesses love promoting themselves - and there’s no better way to do that than to invite the public in to see how their favorite novelties are made first hand. Try out one of these amazing factory tours to keep your kids occupied and amused this summer.

I grew up on the East coast. The snow I grew up with was always wet and squishy and the sledding hills we had were limited. Any real skiing or sledding had to be done in the mountains, and most of the great resorts were at least two to three hours away, so my parents rarely, if ever, took us on a winter adventure.
It wasn’t until later in life that I was able to visit Utah. The tourism department claims Utah has “the greatest snow on Earth,” and I was dying to see if the slopes lived up to their reputation. I bravely dared to visit three very different ski resorts over the course of a single weekend. I am so glad I did!
