The games slowly grew and now give disabled persons from a number of disability groups the ability to participate in an international competition.
When the Paralympic Games were developed they were held the same year as the Olympic games, but were not necessarily held in the same location. The years 1988 and 1992 marked the beginning of the Paralympic Games being held in the same countries and venues as the Olympics. In 2001, the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee agreed that, moving forward, the country that hosts the Olympic games will also be obligated to host the Paralympics.

Dubai, ever present in the unofficial worldwide competition as the world’s #1 tourist destination, will make a claim this New Year’s Eve for the title of “World’s Largest Fireworks Display.” Dubai is at the top of numerous “most” lists that have the topic of luxury in mind, now it can claim to have the best fireworks display in the world. Staged by New York fireworks masters Grucci, an attempt will be made to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, under a new category for “largest and most artistically detailed fireworks display” according to a spokesperson for the event. This is sure to be a spectacular display that will be set up at 25 locations along the independent emirate’s beaches and will be coordinated with a piano concerto.
