You’re probably tired of hearing about Orlando attractions, but this non-Disney, non-Universal theme park is a favorite amongst Floridians. Neither of those parks can claim you’ll be able to see exotic fish beneath you as you float down the lazy river in a tube. Aquatica is actually part of the SeaWorld group and features 36 different slides, six different rivers, and thousands of feet of white sandy beach to play on!
8. Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort – New Braunfels, Texas
The Schlitterbahn waterpark Resort in New Braunfels is more than 30 years old and continues to draw huge crowds of waterpark lovers . Your adventure begins with a trip over a rope bridge to a faux volcano, seconds away from exploding water 20 feet into the sky. Visitors will then continue deeper into the jungle, weathering a thunderstorm, waterfall, and abandoned diamond mine before emerging to enjoy the rest of the slides. This park is renowned for being home to the finest surfing machine in the world.
7. Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark – Kansas City, Kansas
The Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark is one of the newest wet and wild attractions in Kansas and is gaining tons of attention. The park currently features 16 awesome rides, including a scary black tunnel slide and a 42-foot high tower. Tubes are free and guests are welcome to either float gracefully from ride to ride or simply lounge in the river. Parking is free and you’re allowed to bring in your own food.
6. Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark – Galveston Island, Texas
You’ve probably had enough of the Schlitterbahn parks but – trust us- this one is pretty cool. The park on Galveston Island was the first park in the world with the ability to put up or take down a roof, making it either indoor or outdoor depending on the weather. Even more amazing? The entire process takes only 8 minutes to complete. Make sure you check out the wave pool, whitewater rapids, and uphill water coasters while you’re there.
5. Disney World’s Blizzard Beach – Orlando, Florida
Alright – we did have to slip one Disney park into the mix but you won’t be sorry. Blizzard Beach is snow-mountain themed waterpark filled with chair lifts, toboggan rides, and plummeting free fall waterslides. As a matter of fact, the Summit Plummet – standing at 120 feet in height – is the tallest free fall waterslide in the world today.
4. Noah’s Ark – Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Noah’s Ark is an amazing waterpark the kids will particularly enjoy. Inside the watery 3-D theater you’ll enjoy a performance that includes water drops, cannons, lightning, and much more. Older kids will want to check out the Curse of the Crypt, a much scarier water-themed ride. Noah’s Ark is also home to the longest water coaster, the Black Anaconda, in the world.
3. Kalahari Resorts Waterpark – Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
A Kalahari Resorts in Wisconsin Dells you’ll find far more than a simple waterpark. The waterpark itself has both indoor and outdoor features but recently added a $20 million addition. Those who are tired of the water can now enjoy the Ferris wheel, arcade, bowling alley, laser tag course, go-cart track, and much, much more. Make sure you check out the water rides first – the zigzag speed course is something you’ll regret missing.
2. Kalahari Resorts Waterpark – Sandusky, Ohio
The Kalahari Resorts Waterpark in Sandusky Ohio, with a really cool African theme, is currently the largest indoor waterpark in the United States. It also has a huge outdoor section that draws visitors from all over the state. Favorite rides include the bowl ride, 400-foot tube slide, and racer slides. Adults particularly enjoy the swim-up bars and private cabanas.
1. Wilderness Waterpark Resort – Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Another Wisconsin favorite, the Wilderness Waterpark resort boasts almost 500,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor water rides. In the indoor Klondike Kavern you’ll get to experience what it’s like to be in a category 5 hurricane and you’ll love the Black Hole slide in the Wild West park as well. Outdoors you’ll find a spa, lap pool, and a 400-foot tunnel slide.
