If you are looking for a truly unique vacation experience, you might be interested in staying at the Galactic Suites space hotel. Of course, you will need to have $4 million to spare in order to enjoy a three day stay in this hotel. But, if you have the cash, it just might be worth it.

What could possibly be worth $4 million for a three day stay, you ask? Well, this particular hotel is unique because it is actually located in space. In addition, during your stay, you will be able to watch the sun rise on 15 separate occasions as you orbit the earth.

Aside from the fact that this hotel is orbiting the earth, it is much different from any other hotel because you actually have to go through training before you can stay there. In fact, you have to go through an intense 8 week training camp on a tropical island in order to prepare you for your space adventures. Then, you will be shuttled off to catch your ride to space.

Designing the space hotel has been a bit tricky. For example, bathing is accomplished by having guests enter a special spa room where cleansing water bubble float about and scrub them clean. The Barcelona-based architects are still trying to figure out how to make toilets work in zero gravity, however, and they still aren’t quite certain how they can make it possible for guests to enjoy intimate relations. Nonetheless, the company plans to make the space hotel available to travelers in 2012.

Of course, the number of travelers that will be able to take advantage of what this hotel has to offer is quite limited. In fact, the creators of the hotel admit that there are only about 40,000 in the world that have enough money to pay for such an adventure. In addition, guests will have to wear a special Velcro suit that allows them to stick to walls and to crawl inside of their rooms, which are shaped like pods. According to the architects, the pod shape is necessary in order to fit the rooms inside of the rockets used to launch guests into space.

Galactic Suites is not the only company offering this unique type of space travel. Bigelow Aerospace from Nevada already has two inflatable prototypes in space and is planning to open its doors in 2012. Space Island Group, which is based in California, is also working on its own version. This company, however, has not announced a target launch date.
